First chemistry class of the year (backdated to last week)
who | Ian Chesterton and students
what | Chemistry class
when | First week
where | His lab
summary / warnings | Chemistry class and some experimenting for the students to do
Ian had always made sure that the first chemistry lesson of the year an interesting one and saw no reason not to carry the practice on here. He hoped the students would find it interesting, thus fuelling their interest in chemistry. So, once the trivialities were out of the way, he explained the task he'd set the class.
"I want you all to come up with as many ways as you can to put these candles out." He indicated the stack of white candles on the bench beside him. There were enough for one each, and a box of matches to light them with. "You can use anything you have on you, or any of these things." Beside the candles were a few chemicals you could find around the house, along with some beakers and test tubes.
"I'll come round and see how you're doing." Which he hoped would make sure they worked. Once they'd run out of methods to put the candles out, then they could go through what worked and why.
ooc: General catch-all post for the first class of year for all the years. You can assume that the higher years will talk in more detail and go on to harder things. As well as talking to Mr Chesterton as he comes round, you can talk to each other while he's busy with someone else.
